We All Love Clowns

We see the clown face, the red nose, the wild hair and crazy grin and it takes us back to our childhood. We smell the big top, the circus ponies; in our minds we hear the carnival music. We surrender our minds to dreams and hopes we have forgotten about a long time ago; we smile and clap our hands.

Clowns work miracles; they mirror us and mock us, but this is okay because it’s the clown doing this. The clown can say and do all those things we often want to do very much, but would be embarrassed to do or say. The clown can make fun of the boss without repercussions, we are allowed to laugh at this and the boss secretly enjoys being able to let his hair down. The clown is the great leveller and the magic is laughter.

Clowns are the most adaptable entertainers to have, whether it’s for a family fun day, or as a party entertainer at a more formal corporate event.  One moment the clown waddles around making fun of people and leaving laughter as he moves along. Then he switches to a Laurel and Hardy character and the stage is his world. Faces change as he clowns around, laughter and giggles erupt and people have fun. They sometimes have fun in spite of themselves; they simply cannot help themselves and that is the magic of the clown.

The magic of the clown adapts to re-enact events of meaning in the corporate calendar.  He makes us remember those special moments in the past year whether it’s a funny incident or even a sad one. He has the ability to tell the story and still bring a smile to the face of his audience; he can soften the blow of a painful incident and turn it into a good memory for all.

Having a few professional clowns at a corporate event is always a good idea; it is the best ice breaker as his antics simply will not allow people to be quiet and reserved. People relax visibly as the clowns do their show and go walk-about in the crowd.  People can enjoy themselves and be silly whereas in their work day they are probably serious, driven and dedicated to a fault. The magic touch of the clown makes it alright to forget the stresses of work and the responsibilities resting on our shoulders.

The clown is a shrewd psychologist with the ability to see where groups of people gathered who stand outside the general fun of the event, they seek out the wallflower that is too shy to join in. They find the mother who is worried about her children and lift her spirits with a few well aimed jibes.

Bring on the clowns at any corporate event, private party or children’s party, they contribute immensely to the success of the event. Children and adults alike cannot withstand the magic and laughter of the clown and we have fun that will be remembered fondly for a long time.
