Family entertainers: your options, your choice!

There are so many types of entertainment that you can choose from, but how do you pick and what?

Birthdays, weddings and anniversaries are inevitable in my family as they are in yours. There can only be so much said about buying someone a birthday cake, a trinket of a present or what not. What’s the point if it’s the same old boring stuff? No point at all. You want to be able to entertain those in your families and make their special day even more so. Family entertainers aren’t very hard to find, but choosing the right one? That’s a little harder as you need the right family entertainer to meet the need of the event.

There is only really one way to decide. You have to know what’s available to you in the area you live. Take into account the event size, the event location and your price range. Find your phone book and turn to the yellow pages and look under entertainment or entertainers.

The Family Entertainer Round Up:

Clowns: By far the old stand by and one of the oldest and most revered forms of entertainment for all sorts of parties and events. Children love clowns and all the things they can do at their parties make it that much more worth while. Unfortunately for this family entertainer they’ve gotten a bad rap as being one of the most feared by phobia hounds the world over.

Mime: Mimes are, in fact, the original clown. They began their career in Greece and later developed further in Italy until the Christians took over and got rid of them all, but it eventually changed. The Mime has been popularized by France, but never originated there. More a street performer, not readily suited for many parties unless you’re planning a theme where they could be used.

Disc & Karaoke Jockeys: Music is king. Disc jockeys spin your records and you get down and funky to the tunes. Karaoke Jockeys also spin records but add your voice to them. It’s all in good fun and most people would love either of these at their party! Just keep in mind that you will need a location for them to set up as well as for your guests to perform if using a karaoke jockey.

Magicians: By far one of the more enjoyable forms of family entertainment that you can get for your event. They’re fun and unique and create mystery as people try to figure out how they did it. Clowns do magic too, but they’re never as much fun.

Variety: This is a vast group of family entertainers that include impersonators, jugglers, comedians, acrobats and a whole host of other acts that can cost you little, but give you a heck of a time.

Whatever your need is it is always a pleasure to have more than just ice cream and dry cake. If you like clowns, get one. If you like magicians, get one. In fact – get a couple different family entertainers and have your own Britain's Got Talent audition as a theme to your party. Just keep the simple things in mind like location, budget and size of your group.
