Party entertainers and your choices

With so many types of entertainment for your shindig available, how do you choose which is best for your situation?

Special occasions, aside from the usual birthdays and typical holidays, are few and far between. But what’s the point if all you got going on is a cake or something? Not much at all. Personally speaking if you’re celebrating an event like a divorce party or a new job party then you want something a little bit different than the same ole same ole.

The best way to decide on party entertainers is to know what’s available in your area. Go and get your copy of your local yellow pages and look under entertainment. I’m sure you’ll find quite a few options that you can choose from. You will obviously narrow it first by personal taste then by the event that you are putting on and then usually money.

Party Entertainer Choices:

- Clowns: The old saying goes that “All the world loves a clown” and, unfortunately for them, this just isn’t true. In fact there are more people that are terrified by clowns than most other phobias. Another little known fact is that clowns are trademarked. There is not one alike. Clowns are great for parties if there are children otherwise you may want to ignore them as an option. Unless you’re looking for a “dirty” clown in which case knock yourself out.

- Mime: The original clown. Popular in France and annoys the rest of the world. If you’re holding an event at an art gallery where you’re showing off French art then, by all means, call up a mime to entertain you and your guests.

- Disk Jockey: Who doesn’t like music? Hiring a disc jockey is probably one of the more popular entertainer choices. It’s fantastic if you are having a large gathering of friends and family. You will also need some place for him to set up and electricity. They are also relatively inexpensive to boot.

- Karaoke Jockey: Yes – there is such a thing. It’s pretty much the same as a Disc Jockey. They bring a large collection of music for your guests to enjoy and you have fun. The only difference, however, is that it’s all karaoke. Granted, it can certainly be fun to watch your friends make fools out of themselves and that’s always a plus. These guys don’t cost too much either as they’re in less demand.

- Magicians: One of the most enjoyable types of entertainment you can get for your gathering. They’re fun, unique and create an air of mystery as people try to figure out how they did it all. Clowns also do magic, but it’s never as much fun.

- Variety: Your variety acts include such performers as impersonators, jugglers and acrobats. They all have their purpose and they may meet yours. Cost can vary between the different types of acts.

No matter your occasion it’s always a pleasure to have more than jut punch and cake. So if you like clowns then hire one. Same goes with every other performer mentioned here. Keep your location, group size and budget in mind when seeking to hire a party entertainer.
