Street shows will bring in the crowds...

Street shows have been a form of entertainments for hundreds of years. When they think of street shows many people have the wrong impression, they think of badly dressed people who are trying to earn money without having a quality show to watch. However, for true street shows this is not the case. Street shows are becoming more and more popular as people want to have a little entertainment when they are out in town centers shopping and socializing.

Street shows can be anything from a lone performer to a large group of people. One kind of street performer that is well received are walkabout acts. These are people that are in character that walk around and mingle with the crowds. They are dressed up to look like their character and will always act in character, these types of characters can be the jolly policeman or a gossipy old woman wanting to chat with you and make you laugh.

For a more visually stunning street show you can watch acrobats or fire eating entertainers. These will draw a large crowd as people gasp at their daring feats and tricks. Often these type of acts will have a set time when they perform in street shows and they will often have their own designated area in which they can perform their act without the crowd being too close to them and risk being injured.

Some types of street shows encourage the audience to participate with them. Such acts include magicians or pick pocket acts. During a performance the entertainer will ask for a volunteer from the audience to help them with their act. The volunteer will then often be rewarded with a small gift from the act for joining in with the street show.

There are also street shows that are aimed at a younger audience. Children love clowns and tumblers and most street shows have clowns on hand to get the children laughing and enjoying themselves. These acts will not only entertain the children but can feature balloon bending where children can take away their very own balloon animal to remember their day out at the street show. Puppet shows are also used in street shows and appeal to young and old alike. Gone are the days of a small Punch and Judy show, now puppets can be huge and very lifelike and the storylines and puppeteers are first class.

After dark street shows can take on an even more magical effect as lights and even firework displays can be used to draw wows from the crowd. Such effects are fantastic after dark as they really draw the attention of the crowd and look amazing. Many street performers even wear glow in the dark clothing to help them stand out. You cannot help but enjoy yourself when surrounded by the sights and sounds of street shows. You feel as though you are caught up in your own world of entertainment and fun as you wander around taking it all in.
